Transit Times Information
To be safe it is a good idea to allow at least 1 extra day since transit time is an approximation based upon when the order arrives at the delivery service's sort facility (not when the order is placed). Various factors can affect actual delivery time from weather to sorting delays within the shipping service network.
More on International Shipping
Shipping costs are based on the rate above plus an additional 30% of the order subtotal. If your order contains items that are 24 inches or more in width or height and cannot be shipped in a tube, shipping costs may be higher. Additionally, any duty fees or taxes imposed by the destination country will be the responsibility of the recipient.
For USPS shipments, tracking may only be available until the package reaches its final US stop (usually in Chicago) before it is transferred to an overseas flight. However, UPS shipments generally have ongoing tracking even after the package leaves the U.S.
International shipping usually takes 2-4 weeks, but it may take longer if there are customs delays or incoming bottlenecks due to COVID. The recipient may be required to pay customs fees or VAT determined by the destination country. For shipping to Hawaii, Alaska, APOs, and FPOs via the postal service, U.S. rates apply unless there are size or weight restrictions.
Before processing your order, FinerWorks will contact you to approve any additional charges (excluding customs fees or VAT) or if there are any issues with shipping large prints outside the US.
*Oversize Orders Requiring Freight
We understand that some orders may be too large to ship via regular UPS or FEDEX Ground, which may require oversized shipping or via freight. However, we'll do our best to find a ground shipping option for you, whenever possible. If an order appears to be too large for Ground shipping and we are not able to provide a shipping rate at checkout, we'll let you know and shipping charges will be determined after your order is placed. If you're uncertain about shipping charges and need a rough estimate, feel free to contact us with details of your order, and we'll work with you to come up with an approximate cost. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we'll do everything we can to make the shipping process as smooth and affordable as possible.
FAQs
- What do I do if my customer says their order was lost or damaged during shipping?
Print’s being lost or damaged during shipping is rare however it does happen on occasion (less than 1% of orders are ever reported to us) and we will do everything possible to provide a replacement as soon as possible. For more information please visit our returns and replacement page.
- Can I have international orders drop shipped?
If you are based outside of the U.S. and want your order drop-shipped, we recommend you enter your business information within your account but use our address. This prevents confusion and potential problems that can occur with the shipping service or even customs. This also helps us since we must use a U.S.-based address on the customs forms.
- Will my print come in its own plastic print sleeve?
With the exception of stretched and mounted canvas, your print should arrive sealed in a clear (plastic) print sleeve. These print sleeves are intended solely for the purpose of added protection during transport. If you wish to obtain print sleeves for your own personal inventory, you can order print sleeves here. They are ideal for protecting your work from finger prints, smudging, dust and scratches as a result of casual handling or storage while also increasing the perceived value of the print.
- How long does it take to get a framed print?
Our average for most frames is 3 to 5 business days however there may be exceptions dependent on current inventory levels and how quickly the supplier can send us the required stock.
You can also see our turnaround time page for time frame details.
- Does FinerWorks offer “Retail Ready” packaging options?
Finerworks does not offer retail ready packaging.
- Why is it so hard to remove my print from its clear sleeve without damaging it?
We utilize clear plastic print sleeves for added safety and protection during the transport of your print. The print sleeves used for packing are not intended for re-use. Often because of the amount of tape used to secure the print sleeve for safe travel, the print sleeve is not salvageable. If you wish to obtain usable clear print sleeves, you can order them here.
- Do you provide tracking information when an order is shipped?
Below is a quick guide to determine if tracking is going to be available. In most cases it is yes:
- Economy (Yes) *
- Standard (Yes)
- Express (Yes)
- International(Yes**)
When your order has shipped, we will send you an e-mail informing you that it is on its way. There will also be a link to view your order status and get the tracking number for your order. The majority of the time you can click the tracking number itself to see where it is at and estimated date of arrival.
*Our Atlanta photo lab in some cases will use the most inexpensive shipping method to keep rates down for small orders like photo prints, which are using economy shipping. Because of this, tracking services may not always be available for very small orders that weight less than 13oz.
**International orders rely on the destination country and shipping method. In many cases for small orders tracking might end once it reaches it’s last stop before leaving the U.S.
- Can you ship to a family member or friend?
Yes. When checking out, you would enter your friend or family’s address information as the “Ship To” destination. You can also request drop shipping on the final review page. So, if two day shipping is selected, this does not necessarily mean you will receive your print in two days. View our turnaround page and shipping page for details.
