My Art's Desire
Traditional Artist

Shannon L. Johnson

Welcome to my humble gallery of art and photography! Here you will find pencil drawings, oil and acrylic paintings, and digital photographs. My passion is all things nature and my artwork is a reflection of this. Browse the galleries that include animal drawings, landscape and animal paintings, nature/landscape photography, wildlife photography, pet portrait photography, and more!

Feel free to browse the galleries of my work. If you see something you like, I would love to fill your order. If you're looking for something specific that you don't see, ask me about creating a custom piece just for you! I also have limited availability for outdoor photo sessions for those who are within a "reasonable" distance from me. Pricing of custom work will vary.

A bit about me: I am a quirky, passionate, awkward, animal loving nerd. I did all of the things I was “supposed to” do. Like go to college and get a degree. I married the man of my dreams and we have a lovely small home together that we share with our furry children. But I could never picture myself in a “real world” job. It just wasn’t for me. I have worked at a gorgeous private nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter for the last 8 1/2 years, and while it is rewarding, it is not my dream. This here, what I am endeavoring to do now; this is my dream. I have been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil and I’ve always loved taking pictures. I began taking my photography seriously about six years ago, and have recently taken up painting. I am an outdoorsy and active person, and there are few things I enjoy more than riding my horses, playing with my dogs, or going for a walk in the woods with my husband. Sadly, due to a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, I have become physically limited and have had to adjust my life accordingly. I am still no couch potato and tend to push through things, but now more than ever do I cherish my time outside in nature’s beauty. When I am excited and passionate about something, I have an overwhelming desire, nay a need, to share it with people. My love of animals and nature translates itself into my artwork. Having the opportunity to share my work with other people is truly an honor and a dream come true.
