Michael Mcconnell

PinyonGreen
Carbondale, CO

Residing and practicing art in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Michael finds endless inspiration in the diverse landforms that surround him. From valleys to peaks, plateaus to granite and sandstone formations, the beauty of the landscape fuels his creative impulse. As a graduate student in Landscape Architecture, Michael began exploring drawing, painting, and collage as a means of conveying design concepts, eventually delving into mixed-media painting, assemblage, printmaking, and alternative process photography for self-expression.

His experimental mission is to merge ideas with materials and processes, creating a space where elements of architecture, cartography, landscape, cinema, symbol, surface, contour, and horizon line coexist harmoniously. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of interests, including botany, technology, science fiction, and typography, Michael's image-making ideas are as diverse as the landscape that surrounds him. In his current work, he continues to explore the intersection of surface, form, and material through mixed-media abstraction, building layers of paint and collage to create depth and structure.

Michael's prints offer a unique perspective on the intersection of art and nature, perfect for adding a touch of the Rocky Mountains to your home or office decor. Explore his collection and bring a piece of Colorado's beauty into your space today.
