Order Your Prints

Thursday, March 23, 2017 2:41:23 PM - Prints on the Moab Exhibition Luster is now produced with a gloss optimizing coating that sets a new standard for your photo and art printed on this paper. Sticking with our same satin luster paper for prints as well as used for our new face mounted acrylics, this high quality 11 mil 300g paper answers artist’s and photographers’ requests for a high quality paper between a matte and a gloss, with excellent ink retention characteristics and a color gamut that is second to none. This paper maintains a traditional E surface finish, providing an elegant texture consistent to that of a traditional dark room print. This is a popular paper of choice with professional photographers however we find it also makes stunning art reproductions. Now, this week we began introducing the upgraded version with the gloss coating thanks to the introduction of Canon’s newer PRO-4000 printer that now is now part of our fleet of printers.

Wednesday, February 22, 2017 4:39:41 PM - You can now order your prints matted without a frame. Our customers have been requesting this option for the past several months since we started to offer custom framing services. I am now happy to say that this option is here.

Wednesday, January 11, 2017 4:33:36 PM - In the world of art, I always find this one of the most exciting times because with the hustle of the Holiday season behind us it gives me an opportunity to explore new ideas. As an artist, I used to make it a point to slow down and use this time of year to look for new inspiration and or evaluate if what I had been doing was what I wanted to do and/or accomplish the goals I was after. Now days I place a lot of this energy into considering how we can better serve our customers. This includes improvements in product manufacturing, order processing workflow and even new shipping options. I also plan to stress more our ability to offer custom sizes print options.

Friday, November 25, 2016 1:22:38 PM - FinerWorks got its start as a company that produced canvas prints. While we still do a lot of canvas prints, we have evolved into a fine art color lab which now primarily produces art and photo prints on various fine art papers. Ever since we started to do more than just canvas, I have always recognized the importance of a good frame for artwork and photography. A frame not only enhances the appearance but also provides a sense of value to what some might see as merely a print. As artists if we are either providing the print to someone or even ourselves we want that final piece to have a sense of value. Thus, over the past couple months, we have been working diligently to develop our framing center both online and at our printing facility in San Antonio, TX. We still have a lot of work ahead of us but are excited to announce that we have started to offer some new and sleek framing options called the Gallery One collection in addition to the more weathered look of our Standout Frames collection. We also added the option to order matting and place your work behind glass (clear acrylic) for the new collection. In the days and weeks to come we plan to add a wider range of frame molding styles which includes floater frames for stretched and mounted canvas.

Monday, October 31, 2016 11:18:37 AM - It’s about time! That was the statement a frequent user and artist said to us the other day when he placed an order on our new shopping cart and checkout page. A few weeks ago, we unveiled the new checkout process in a test mode for customers using our exclusive photos on canvas website service. Since then we have been slowly making it available to everyone at FinerWorks. Finally, last week it was fully implemented for all. Our goal was to setup the shopping cart and checkout experience so that it would be a much faster and a more hassle free process. This stemmed from what we felt was too long of a time it would take a person to complete the ordering process. So, based on valued feedback from a number of our regular users we came up with a formula we think made things easier for those using the FinerWorks website.

Sunday, August 28, 2016 8:58:07 PM - I am excited to announce that FinerWorks has been approved to be an Etsy Manufacturer. Noelle Hines, one of our senior account executives and customer service representatives will oversee aspects of this as well as be our token Etsy expert. As an Etsy seller herself she has been able to view first-hand what many of our customers that are also Etsy sellers experience. Over the past couple years Etsy has evolved their policy so artists selling on Etsy are more easily able to outsource production without violating Etsy terms of service. I think to some degree that this was almost inevitable. If there was a flaw in their business model it was no mechanism in place initially that would allow their users to continue to use the Etsy platform once they reached a certain level of growth. Unless the seller had the capability or funding to setup their own production facility and hire staff, those abiding by Etsy's original terms would find themselves having to close their Etsy shop and find customers elsewhere if they wanted to outsource. Admittedly many users chose to ignore Etsy’s policy and eventually Etsy began to loosen their stance on this. Now it appears they are somewhat endorsing companies that meet the criteria they require by allowing them to be part of their Etsy Manufacturer’s program. For us it is a good thing because it provides us a level of credibility in the eyes of new customers. For our customers it is just as good because it encourages us to continue to meet their demands and explore ways to improve things.

Tuesday, July 26, 2016 2:48:19 PM - We now have a metallic canvas. Metallic canvas has been around for a few years now however it is starting to be widely favored in some circles over even gloss and certainly any satin or matte canvas. Some in the photography world might be more familiar with the term pearl to describe the type of finish this has but it is essentially characterized by the metallic appearance it has when light reflects off of it. Granted it might now be to everyone’s taste, however I was in awe by its ability to show detail and color. In order to see what it is like, we are running a 50% off special that will give you 50% off the standard single print price on the metallic canvas. This will give you the opportunity to try it and let us know what you think. This intro special expires Monday, August 1, 2016 at midnight CT. Make sure you use coupon code METCANV in your shopping cart before your checkout.

Sunday, June 26, 2016 8:21:21 PM - We are excited to announce our new line of card options. These include precision cut folded greeting card along with postcards and multipurpose, two sided flat cards that are available in sizes up to 8.5 x 11. Our ability to complete and process card orders has been accelerated dramatically due to new state of the art equipment that now automates the process for us unlike we would have been able to do before. It also has allowed us to offer these new printed card options.

Tuesday, April 12, 2016 10:12:44 AM - We are excited to announce new card processing technology coming soon for a better folded greeting card in quality and accuracy. But first I want to announce the selection of our new starter kit participants voted by our panel of judges. Check out their website and their work. Each winner is being sent a starter kit with a $100 gift card as thanks for their participation. Six are are being shown with their website and a brief testimonial on the back of the starter kit folder and two on the inside. We go through a ton of starter kits and order new batches at least a couple times a year. If you were not selected by our panel of judges this time, don't fret because we will in all likelihood be doing another round later in the year.

Sunday, February 14, 2016 7:41:33 PM - We have started to simplify our shipping options by consolidating shipping of items coming from our Atlanta, GA and San Antonio, TX color labs. This means if you order items shipped from both locations you will not need to select two shipping methods. Instead shipping cost from both locations will be consolidated into one. In addition this year we will look into moving production of some of the products you may order from our Atlanta based lab to San Antonio which could mean some of these items will ship from a more centralized location within the U.S. This would alsol speed up average delivery time for those products. We are also in the process of adding some new domestic shipping options and fine tuning the cost of International Shipping. These should go into affect next week. You may know that shipping rate increases by the US Postal Service have been ongoing with another substantial increase this year.  The good news is with these new domestic shipping options we will be able to keep overall shipping around the same and even less for some of the larger unmounted prints and posters.

Sunday, December 6, 2015 4:47:59 PM - We have been hearing that the various delivery services have been running behind so don't wait too much longer to order if you want it to arrive by Christmas. Keep in mind we produce different products at different locations so items ordered from both our San Antonio and Atlanta color labs will ship separate. For our San Antonio fine art color lab you still have some time (see the chart below) . If you are ordering from our Atlanta lab, try to get your order in today or tomorrow (Wednesday) at the latest since we have had to move up the deadline dates as a precaution. Please review the ordering and shipping deadline chart to figure out which method is best for you. As said in our previous email, we will make every attempt to ensure that your order ships and arrives before Christmas. This may include changing the shipping method to one that we believe will be more likely to get the package to you on time. But be aware that during the last days leading up to Christmas delivery services like FEDEX, UPS and the Post Office are more likely to get behind. So make sure you do not wait until the last moment to order.

Tuesday, November 3, 2015 6:05:21 PM - We have plowed into our busiest time of year at full speed. We have at least two things to announce which have come about quite suddenly. First, and most exciting to many of our customers is that we changed to a higher quality gloss canvas that many of our professionals who have used various high end color labs will likely be familiar with. Second we because we are getting much busier, we are extending our hours into the weekend both for production and customer service.

Tuesday, September 22, 2015 4:28:51 PM - If you usually order your prints on the "Fine Art Paper" under the "Fine Art Paper" category, you will now find that in your order history and elsewhere on our website you will see it labeled as "Fine Art Paper Velvet". Same paper but just worded more descriptively. It's true name, but too long to fit in some places, is Moab Somerset Enhanced Velvet. It is also known under other labels as Epson Somerset Velvet, Canon Enhanced Velvet, etc. Years ago when we first carried this it was our only fine art paper so we simply called it "Fine Art Paper" not realizing that producing prints on paper was going to eventually overshadow our canvas printing services. We still produce a lot of canvas prints, but really found our new love in producing highly colorful and vivid prints on various papers. This led to more and more papers types being offered.

Sunday, September 20, 2015 12:03:44 PM - Last week was quite an exciting week for us and will keep us moving forward this week at full throttle. We introduced a new paper just the week prior which received an incredible response. We shipped out the first batch of our new wood prints. We just made some improvements to our new Web API and started looking for seasonal help for the last quarter of this year.

Monday, September 14, 2015 5:43:03 PM - We are in the process of producing a new layout for our company folder. This is the same folder we use for our starter kits and a number of miscellaneous needs. On the back we plan to display the work of 6 to 8 artists and photographers, preferably 50/50, which reflects the type of imagery that we print at FinerWorks. Below that we want to include a small thumbnail portrait of the individual artist and a 15 to 20 word statement as to why that artist or photographer chooses to use FinerWorks to as a color lab they use. Myself, Brian and our Production Manager will be making the selection. A $100 gift card / voucher will be awarded to those that were selected and we will include a preview of the final layout in one of our newsletters.

Friday, September 4, 2015 10:59:59 AM - This week we are making some changes with a couple products we offer. First due to occasional product availability issues we decided it has been necessary to replace the Epson Ultrasmooth Fine Art Paper. Its replacement may seem no different to some since it is almost an exact match but with a major brand name behind it that many in the giclee and photography world are familiar with. Second we will be making some improvements in how we produce the wood prints so that you can order larger sizes and also get more detail in the darker tones.

Monday, July 6, 2015 2:27:48 PM - We have upgraded out gloss canvas to a new version which has a more refined and consistent glossy finish on the surface. Many of our customers have indicated that they felt the previous version of our glossy canvas just was not glossy enough. This has been especially true with many of our photographer friends who may have been more used to a glossy canvas versus a matte.

Sunday, May 10, 2015 5:18:12 PM - If you have wondered how can you seamlessly tie in your website or business with our own website and printing infrastructure our web api may be for you. As you can imagine we get a lot of inquires on how can people tap into our site so that when they receive an order on their own website or other venue, they can automatically transmit that to us without having to go to our site and place an order manually. That is just one example but integration inquiries also ranges from other printing companies which may need to outsource certain types of printing we do to individuals with websites.

Tuesday, May 5, 2015 2:19:42 PM - The William Turner by Hahnemuhle is one of the most popular papers used in the Giclee printing industry. Texture wise this fits nicely between our Fine Art Paper (Somerset Velvet) and our Premium giclee. This is a 310g natural white mould made natural line paper with 100% rag content making it highly archival. It has a slight coarse texture which actually serves to enhance the look of art and photo prints. Over the years customers have been asking to start offering this paper so here it is. Starting today, not only will be we offering it but we will have select sizes on sale through the rest of this week. Give it a try because I think you will love this paper.

Tuesday, April 14, 2015 10:07:05 PM - Our new most affordable canvas prints are now produced from the high quality Artisan Canvas by Fredrix, the top brand in canvas. Images are printed with archival grade Epson Ultrachrome GSX inks, an eco-solvent type of ink. The finished print has a luster or satin appearance ideally suited for both art reproductions and photographs. The superior poly/cotton blend, 2-over-1 canvas is specially engineered to create beautiful prints, providing a wide color gamut, exceptional contrast with a consistent canvas texture. Due to the durable nature of the inks, prints are both scratch and smudge resistant without the need to be coated increasing turnaround time and lowering cost to you.

Sunday, April 12, 2015 11:58:16 AM - We have updated the finishing options for the back of the canvas prints which are available. No longer are we offering the Tyvek backings. Instead all canvas prints by default will receive a white or black acid free mat board backing. You can also choose to upgrade the hanging hardware to a wire hanger versus the default d-ring hanger. One of the first questions I received when we did this was why is it so important to be concerned with what the back of the canvas looks like when so many other companies that offer canvas prints don't seem to give it much attention. Plus who looks at the back of the canvas print? Those are valid questions and my answer is that even the smallest details cannot be overlooked when quality is important. Yes, most people probably don't give the backings of a canvas print much attention but since so many of our customers place orders to be sent to their own customers we recognize that craftsmanship of the stretched canvas prints is a direct reflection on them just as much as ourselves.

Monday, April 6, 2015 1:05:53 PM - Right now this has got to be my favorite paper. To top it off, it's by Hahnemuhle, the leader in museum and gallery grade fine art papers for giclee prints. Hahnemuhle's Torchon is a 285 gsm acid free fine art paper with a parchment-like feel. While it especially suits reproductions of oils, watercolor and pastel mediums, printed photos show an incredible amount of accurate detail and color. The printed side of this paper has been specially coated for excellent image sharpness and optimum color graduation. The coating also offers a very high level of water resistance. For the rest of this week we will be offering this paper at a special introductory price for select sizes so that you can test it out yourself.

Wednesday, April 1, 2015 11:33:42 AM - This month of April 2015 we will be introducing at least three exciting new new options for you. We will be making formal introductions of these as they are made available so make sure are following us on Facebook or continue to get our newsletter. Here is a summary:

Friday, March 27, 2015 9:45:41 AM - Please excuse the mess but we have officially relocated into a larger production facility. Within just under a year we had outgrown our previous location. As our order volume increased and new staff was added late last year it was necessary to start to explore moving again. Fortunately there was space available within our existing center so our new front door is less then 100 feet from our previous entrance.

Sunday, March 8, 2015 1:43:52 PM - We are moving again. Technically we are only going to be expanding our production center by moving to a larger area within the same business complex. This will be approximately twice the size of our current location. I won't say this was unexpected but perhaps just not anticipated to be so soon. We moved almost a year ago to our existing production center due to the necessity of more space. This has allowed us to offer more product options and make the production process more efficient. But last December, which is traditionally our busiest month, we had doubts if that was going to be suitable even with the addition of new employees last year within our production department.

Wednesday, March 4, 2015 9:08:16 AM - Setting up prints to sell in your galleries is a free service that we offer. Because it is free we do not really provide any one on one support by phone. Only online or by e-mail. If you do call, you will politely be directed to a page such as this or our help page by one of our phone customer service reps. Fortunately the process is not as difficult as it might seem. Just understand that you will need an active PayPal account and any prints you sell will not automatically be sent to us to print. You will need to turn around and place an order with us if you want us to ship it to your buyer. The reason for this at this time is some of our artists and photographers do indeed keep a physical inventory of their prints and want to ship their prints to their customers themselves. Our goal is to in the future make this more turnkey but for now we have a new interactive video which shows how to setup your virtual prints inventory. Click the full-screen icon when video starts for the interactive menu.

Wednesday, February 11, 2015 2:58:27 PM - We have modified the float mount option. Wooden spacers are adhered to the back of the print which appear to offset your print from the wall by about a half inch making it look as if the print is floating on the wall. This gives your display a more contemporary look. A D-ring hanger will be screwed onto the top brace so you can easily hang it on a hook or nail.

Wednesday, January 14, 2015 1:00:51 PM - This year we plan on introducing some new products we believe will be of interest to artists and photographers. We also plan on adding new options to our existing line of products. First checkout a brief video in which we preview a new type of mounted canvas print which will be offered in a few days called a resin coated canvas print. Second, we are always looking to both improve the quality and presentation of our print products we make for you. Therefore we have decided to eliminate the sawtooth hanger option for more professional hanging options as has been requested quite often. This means we are now offering three new hanging hardware choices from which you can choose. Yes, it is a little more work to add then a sawtooth hanger but this year our goal is to continue to provide you canvas prints made of quality materials with an eye toward a more refined canvas print. Checkout the brief video showing you the resin coated canvas prints then see what we now offer for all stretched canvas prints.

Sunday, October 26, 2014 9:10:06 PM - We are excited to be announcing an upgraded feature for account holders which we now refer to as My Prints Inventory. This allows you to setup giclee prints and fine art cards then store them within your account for easy re-ordering via an Add to Cart button. It’s especially useful if you have your own art based business and find yourself frequently re-ordering the same prints over and over again. Rather than go through the entire process of setting up a print, selecting the media, style and size each time you need to order, instead you can simply add it to your shopping cart from your virtual inventory and checkout. If you have a gallery level account, it also works in conjunction with your PayPal shopping cart so that you can manage those prints and cards you want to post for sale within any of your galleries.

Wednesday, October 1, 2014 3:25:14 PM - The new starter kit is now available. Its a replacement to our bound sample booklet but also includes a calibration print and samples of our folded cards. Every day we have new customers contacting us asking where to begin, can they get some samples of the media we produce and how to know if their prints will look the way they see their image on their screen.

Tuesday, September 23, 2014 2:30:38 PM - One of the most popular paper has been our “Fine Art” paper, originally known as Epson Somerset Velvet. We designate it as simply Fine Art paper because it was one of the first papers we introduced back when most of our focus had been printing on canvas. Initially I had some reservations on just labeling it Fine Art Paper since I was worried it would cause some confusion since FinerWorks was planning on offering a number of different fine art papers with their own unique names. Now we have Archival Matte Paper, Premium Giclee, Cotton Etching, and more. All have their unique properties which make them special. Likely we will be adding new ones in the future as well but it should be made clear that all of these are fine art papers specially made to produce giclee prints for artists and fine art photographers. Going back to the original Fine Art paper, which still is my personal favorite, I think it is time we let you in on a fun little secret about that particular paper.

Wednesday, September 10, 2014 8:01:33 PM - FinerWorks is happy to announce an upgrade in quality without an upgrade in cost. We are replacing our original matte canvas with a new OBA free canvas by Fredrix. If you are an artist you know Fredrix. Fredrix, owned by Tara Materials, Inc, is a big name in the art supplies industry providing artists blank canvas and stretcher bars. Obviously as one of the leaders in the fine art industry when many artists think of blank canvas they also think of Fredrix.

Wednesday, August 20, 2014 5:04:01 PM - We are getting into custom card business. If you have used FinerWorks for sometime you may be familiar with the glossy photo folded cards we have offered through our partner lab in the past. Well now we have something better. We have discontinued those glossy cards for what we think is more in line with the needs of both artists and fine art photographers. These press printed cards are currently available in two fine art paper card stock, both with a matte surface. One has an a fine art linen texture and the other is a white matte paper. Starting at $2.75 for a 3 1/2 x 5, they are affordable for even the reseller. We ship them direct from our San Antonio fine art printing facility rather than our partner lab. This usually means a quicker turnaround and no separate shipping when you also order a print on canvas or fine art paper.

Wednesday, June 4, 2014 8:31:01 AM - We just made the quick checkout process a little quicker for those that choose to take advantage of it. Ordering your prints through FinerWorks does not require you to have an account but it is definitely recommended if you order prints frequently. One of the features many of our artists with accounts take advantage of is the Quick Checkout feature in their account. It allows storing of your name and address so you don’t have to retype it in each time you order.

Tuesday, April 22, 2014 8:51:20 PM - FinerWorks has moved to a new location. It definitely was not without its ability to frazzle some of us since change can be hard but the dust is finally starting to settle and orders are getting out the door. There is nothing like seeing members of our team, with myself included, running around trying to find things like shipping supplies and wonder if we're are out of stock or if they are tucked away behind some crate or piece of equipment.

Thursday, April 3, 2014 7:09:07 PM - FinerWorks is moving. Well actually our San Antonio based production facility is just going to be moving into a new building around the corner before May 1. Our current facility has served us well the past few years, but as the demand for our printing has increased through sites like FinerWorks.com, some of our sister sites as well as the large orders by corporate customers we found it was necessary to make this move. Internally we will be working around the move but since production usually operates within a 1-3 business day window any impact this has will likely not be noticable to orders shipping out.

Tuesday, March 25, 2014 10:21:35 PM - Thanks to a great suggestion from one of our artists who uses us on a regular basis to have prints dropshipped to her customers I am happy to announce a couple new shipping options. We wanted to help people like her who ship a lot of 16x20 prints avoid having to select UPS Ground. While I am overall happy with UPS Ground it costs $14.95 versus $9.95, won't allow shipping to PO Boxes in most cases and in many cases has a longer transit time without Saturday delivery. Rather than raising the rates for Priority Mail and Express mail we setup offer an upgraded version to the two called "Priority Mail Large" and "Express Mail Large". They are a few dollargs move but will these "Large" versions let you ship prints flat up to 16x20. In addition it can be a solution to those that want their paper prints shipped in a little more robust packaging than the normal flat mailers.

Tuesday, March 18, 2014 11:59:27 PM - A few months back I had an artist tell me he was looking for a new site to setup a personal gallery. He said the site he had been using had been okay up until then but appeared to be going down hill or was not being actively moderated like it once was. He sounded disappointed when he said this so I asked him what had happened which had turned him off so much. He said the site was turning into a photo sharing site and was losing it’s art community feel. People were posting anything and everything from selfies (those are photos people take of themselves with their iPhones or other smartphone) to vacation snap shots.

Wednesday, December 4, 2013 10:35:07 AM - Don't wait until the last moment. We have not finalized our Christmas ordering deadlines just yet but it will probably fall around the 18th of this month which is only two weeks away. Right now we are getting close to running at full capacity so if you have to submit an order for order fulfillment to your customer and have been putting it off for whatever reason don't wait much longer. Here are five useful tips for your holiday shipments that you should consider when order prints for your friends, family or even customers.

Wednesday, October 16, 2013 8:44:47 AM - When ordering a gloss or matte stretched and mounted canvas print you now have the option to order a basic finishing at no charge or professional finishing for $15. Both are optional and either is recommended if you plan to hang your stretched & mounted canvas print unframed. Continue reading for more details on these options.

Monday, September 16, 2013 11:55:13 PM - Over the past few months we have seen a big increase in the number of orders placed by artists using the drop shipping option. If you are not familiar with the order fulfillment service, it is a free feature we offer in which you can have your prints shipped to someone and have it look like it was shipped by you rather than us. No prices are used and your name and address shows up as the sender on the shipping label and packing slip. Up until now this would be the name and address used during checkout under your order's billing section. This would include your name, company name, address and phone number. We realize this might not be ideal for everyone, especially when you don't want to use your billing information. We now have a remedy so you can control what is displayed as the order's sender.

Friday, July 12, 2013 9:27:58 AM - Want to reorder a canvas or art paper print you have ordered in the past? Did you know there is a way you can do this quickly and easily? If you have been printing your work to fulfill orders or are simply giving your prints to people as gifts, you will find it is not unusual to be ordering the same prints over and over again. One little known secret is we have a way for you to reorder those particular prints without the need to reupload your images each time.

Monday, February 25, 2013 9:15:43 AM - After some careful consideration and discussion we have decided to go back to implementing a gallery at FinerWorks. We transferred the Yakmonkey accounts to FinerWorks and created search engine friendly redirects to those Yakmonkey pages so as to not disrupt any links artists and photographers have on their personal websites, Facebook posts, and so on. Artists and photographers with Yakmonkey accounts will not need to make any changes or even do anything different on their part.

Thursday, January 10, 2013 1:31:50 PM - I am excited to announce several new mounting options coming up here in the month of January 2013. These include prints mounted on gator board and face mounted prints on clear acrylic panels.

Thursday, May 17, 2012 1:58:37 PM - If you have been following FinerWorks for a while you may know that Yakmonkey.com is now live and allowing people to start selling their work on their own, using Yakmonkey as their gallery and having PayPal host their shopping cart. What about if you want to just order some prints for yourself from the images you have uploaded and stored? With some of the minor changes to the interface we thought it worth mentioning how to do this so you don't have to re-upload those same images again.

Sunday, October 2, 2011 9:36:37 AM - Today we have added a new feature which let’s anyone with an account save print options for instant ordering. It acts kind of like a wish list so many e-commerce site’s have but instead will be a listing of various print options you have preselected for your images.

Saturday, September 24, 2011 9:13:18 PM - We now have a new order form to setup and preview prints. It should be much more reliable than the form we had in the past, especially for MAC users who have problems with Adobe Flash.

Saturday, September 17, 2011 5:04:09 PM - A new reorder prints option has been added to people's order history. This along with other account features should make FinerWorks order fulfillment services for artists and photographers quicker and easier.

Sunday, September 11, 2011 9:23:39 PM - We are now offering a Windows based software application for Yakmonkey to batch their images to their accounts. It is still in testing so let us know how it works for you.

Sunday, September 4, 2011 12:08:20 PM - We added some updates to the site to help MAC users experiencing problems with prints not showing up in their cart. We also made some changes which effected drop ship users shipping address when using PayPal.
