Growing up in Western Pennsylvania, Laurie Musser's passion for art was ignited at a young age. With six siblings, finding a clean sheet of paper was a challenge, but her mother gave her a chalkboard as a creative outlet. Laurie spent hours drawing on the chalkboard, surrounded by mountains of chalk dust, and was overjoyed by the positive reactions from her friends and family to her artwork. After graduating from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Laurie made the move to Strongsville, OH, where she spent two decades as an on-staff illustrator with American Greetings. While maintaining freelance relationships with AG and other companies, Laurie felt the desire to explore new opportunities and focus on different artistic directions.
In 2003, Laurie took a leap of faith and established her own business, founding Chalkboard Studio. This allowed her to push herself creatively and embrace new challenges each day. With a background in illustration, Laurie's work is versatile and continues to evolve as she explores different mediums and styles.
