Custom Size Printing Options and Alternatives

Did you know that we offer custom print sizes with no setup charges? That’s right, we  print  ANY combination of width and height  (in whole inch increments). That is because with the system we use, we treat every print as a custom size.

But did you also know that custom-sized prints will also require custom-sized frames? This is not cheap, and unfortunately original artwork or artistically-cropped photographs do not always conform to  print/frame size standards.

Of course we offer custom size framing for this reason but outside of that ready made frames are limited.

There is one “trick of the trade” that has become quite popular among many of the artists and photographers and photographers that use FinerWorks. Building a plain white border, or even a decorative one (much like a mat) into the image by use of an image editing application such as Photoshop may be an excellent solution. This is also a popular choice for those seeking dimensions in increments of less than one inch, as the excess border can easily be removed at home. If you have an image editing program like Photoshop or Photoshop elements, the process is fairly simple. You would make the overall open document a size more commonly found for framing and place your image within those dimensions.

To do this in Photoshop use the cropping tool to crop past your image boundaries or go to the menu and select “Image > Canvas Size” and set your outer dimensions.

There are tons off tutorials on the web on how to do this and if you do not have Photoshop, the Adobe website allows you to download a 30 day fully functional trial version.
