Welcome to Yakmonkey. As a way to introduce myself, my name is James Theopistos the original founder of FinerWorks.com. I have enjoyed drawing and painting since I can remember and am an avid fan of digital art and photography. While I never had any formal education in the field of art beyond classes in high school, a desire to be creative or capture those subjects that interested me in a visual format motivated me to become somewhat self taught.
I have had some success as both an illustrator and selling my work in print, mainly due to putting into practice sound ideas of self promotion and embracing the use of the Internet to show my work. Over time it led to various projects and even some sales. It was those sales of prints which eventually led to developing one of the first online canvas print on demand services called FinerWorks.

Today my focus is not so much creating art but helping other artists and photographers become successful. I do this by managing both a blog at FinerWorks as well as offer any knowledge I have gained in marketing as an artist in an online world.

My philosophy when it comes to selling art is art does not sell itself but the artist does. My vision for Yakmonkey has been to provide an online market place for artists and photographers to sell their work in a printed format while giving buyers a certain amount of flexibility in ordering. At the same time I see Yakmonkey becoming a powerful promotional tool by giving the artists and photographers the additional exposure they need and a place to communicate with other artists and potential buyers.

Right now Yakmonkey is still being built as artists get settled in. We expect to see more and more artists and photographers join and soon will open the site up to the general public. I am excited about what will become of this site and believe it will be an enjoyable place for anyone who appreciates the visual arts.

I used finerworks for first time.. .. I am SO pleased with the results. I recelived the giclee print quickly and in perfect condition. I truly could not be happier.

First I'd like to say thanks for finerworks.com! It has been my only solution for printing my artwork to date. I'm also quite excited for yakmonkey.com to get into full swing. As artist, we are always looking for more exposure and I think yakmonkey might help tremendously in that respect!
