Things to be Aware of...
Digital / Scanned Images - If you have
scanned your images, your print will only be as good as the quality
of the image provided and
enlargements
from a photo may not always yield as good a picture unless substantial
image editing is performed. Before submitting your image, zoom in for
some close ups and inspect every inch of the picture. We do not touch
or modify your submitted digital images other than to crop to
the size you order so if your photograph contains scratches, coffee
stains,
dirt,
etc,
this will show up in your print as well. .
File Format for CDs - CDs should contain
the image in a rasture format (such as JPEG, Photoshop or TIF). We
recommend images files be in sRGB and be sized to you order at 150
to 300 DPI .
Image Cropping can Occur - If your image
is not of the same aspect or size of the print you designate, your
image will likely need to be cropped to fit the size you designated
in your order. Failure to order the same dimensions as your file may
result in cropping out elements of the image that you did not want
cropped. Read more about
cropping here
Digital Images or SCANS Of Photographs & Artwork
The recommended method of supplying your image is through
our online "Create a Print" system since it allows you to preview
what will be printed based upon the dimensions you select. If you are
unable or do not want to supply your image via the "Create a Print" system
we can accept digital copies of your pictures saved to a CD or via an
FTP link.
If you are sending a CD to us by mail or image files via
your own FTP link then you will still be required to submit certain order
details online in order to assign an order number. You will still have
the choice to pay online or offline. The only exception to this is if
you are dropping off a CD in person at one of our print studios.
Original Artwork
Photographing of artwork is available only through our
San Antonio office, in person and by appointment only. Contact us to
schedule an appointment and rates.
Negatives, Slides, Transparencies
Prints, negatives, slides, and transparencies must be evaluated
for their quality and print worthiness prior to acceptance for print.
This is service offered through our San Antonio studio, in person and
by appointment only. Images deemed worthy of print can be saved to a
CD or used to place an order for prints. Contact us to schedule an appointment
and any applicable rates.
Take
into consideration the size of the print you want produced. As you
have a photo or negative enlarges, you enlarge the grains making up
the picture. Canvas is very forgiving due to its textured surface so
enlarging a 4 x 5” to a 16 x 20” or even a 24 x 30” canvas
photo print is not a problem. On the other hand, enlarging a wallet
size image to anything higher than a 16 x 20" canvas photo print
may not be wise.
