Hello, I’m Susan Morris and I’ve been in Reno, Nevada since 2005. I come from a run of rural and suburban living…nothing special! I like to think that my art brings out a piece of each as well as a piece of my heart and thoughts. I have had no formal art education; I simply take what’s inspiring at the moment and go with it.
As with many artists, I started drawing at an early age and was bored with coloring books. I always asked for that “supreme art set” that was displayed in the Sears catalog for Christmas. Well I never got it, but I made due with snapped crayons.
Since 2001, my heart has been with mosaic art. I would rummage through scrap tile that local stores were just going to throw out and started a mass collection of random tiles. I am huge on nature, I love using natural stones and scraps from the backyard. I also have been having fun with recycled metals; glue seems to work, since I’m not a welder!
Turning my originals into prints hasn’t been the easiest task, but I was fortunate to have an amazing photographer (JD Delacruz of Jordan Delacruz Photography) who was able to capture my art’s most original qualities. I am starting with a few, and if these get a good response, I hope to expand my offering.
I hope you like what you see!
