As a boy my first camera was a Ziess Ikon box camera, you looked through the glass that was smaller than a postage stamp in size. The glass was on two sides so you could take a picture vertically or horizontally. We lived in Atascadero, Calif out in the country. I loved my summer vacations when I could roam the country and along the Salinas River seeing the wonders of nature. My family took us to Yosemite in the summer. It was there I first learned of Ansel Adams through his photos and books. I was amazed at what he accomplished with the camera. He and John Shaw were my favorites photographers. I learned photograhy through a correspondence course. It was very helpful but you soon learned that seeing and feeling were the core of photgraphy, no one could teach you these things. I took landscape pictures, the trees, rivers and mountains were always fascinating. I found that scenes were often gone in seconds with the fleeting light, but for that instant it was grandeur. Later I acquired a 4X5 Calumet View Camera that was a joy to use. Many businesses and families still gain pleasure from my images that hang on their wall. I am currently a professional architectural photographer. I reside in American Fork, Utah with my wife, Charlene. We have 5 children and 17 grandchildren. I will be taking pictures always until this life ends.
